Set amongst rolling farmland just 20 kilometres from Rotorua, Hiwi Farm Venues offers a unique celebration experience that's relaxed, affordable and full of country character. With exclusive use of the Shearer's Wool Shed, beautiful rural surroundings and plenty of space to dine, dance and celebrate, you're free to create an event that reflects your own style.
Bring your favourite food, drinks, music and personal touches, or let us help you style the venue using our rustic décor. However you choose to celebrate, we'll provide the venue while you create memories that will last a lifetime.
The Big Country – Milestone Celebration Package
Your package includes exclusive use of the Shearer’s Wool Shed from 12:00 pm until 12:00 am (midnight), surrounded by beautiful gardens and rolling countryside. With plenty of space for dining, dancing and celebrating, our rustic venue provides the perfect setting to bring family and friends together for life’s special moments.
Unlike many venues, you’re free to celebrate your way. There are no compulsory caterers or preferred suppliers, giving you the flexibility to create an event that reflects your own style, traditions and budget.
Food and drinks are not included, allowing you complete freedom to choose what works best for your celebration. You might choose to:
*Host a potluck-style celebration
*Organise your own BBQ (BBQ not provided)
*Hire a food truck or mobile pizza caterer
*Arrange your favourite local caterer
*Ask family and friends to prepare favourite homemade dishes
*You’re welcome to decorate the venue yourself or use our collection of rustic décor to create the perfect atmosphere. To help preserve the character of our historic Shearer’s Wool Shed, we kindly ask that decorations are attached without the use of nails, screws, staples, glue or any other materials that may cause damage. If you’d prefer a helping hand, styling assistance is also available to help bring your vision to life.
*To help you enjoy the end of your celebration, Hiwi Farm Venues will complete the general venue cleaning the following day. We kindly ask that all food, drinks, decorations and personal belongings are removed before you leave.
*We kindly ask that all beverages be brought in cans rather than glass bottles. This helps us support a local young man’s can collecting business and reduces the risk of broken glass around the venue.
*Please note that the Shearer’s Wool Shed is a beautifully restored rural building with original, uneven timber floors. We recommend that you and your guests wear appropriate footwear to ensure everyone can enjoy the celebration safely and comfortably

- Country kitchen for adding the final touches to your food before serving (please note this is not a commercial kitchen and is not suitable for preparing food on-site)
Venue Times
- 12:00 pm – 12:00 am (Midnight) Your exclusive venue hire begins at 12:00 pm, giving you plenty of time to decorate the Shearer's Wool Shed, welcome your suppliers and prepare for your celebration. Celebrate with family and friends throughout the afternoon and evening before concluding your event at 12:00 am (midnight). At the end of the evening, we kindly ask that you remove all personal belongings, decorations, food and drinks brought to the venue. Hiwi Farm Venues will take care of the general venue cleaning the following day.
