The Shearer’s Wool Shed, Paddock and Gardens have been lovingly converted in 2025 into a unique wedding and celebration venue. Set in the middle of a large paddock with expansive rural views, the shed offers an authentic rustic country atmosphere, you simply don’t get with modern wedding venues.  Located just 20 km from Rotorua, on a working farm surrounded by beautiful countryside. Native bush at the back of the property provides the perfect backdrop for stunning couple and family wedding photos.

This style of wedding invites family and friends to be part of the celebration, helping with decorations and bringing food, which keeps costs down, makes this an affordable wedding package, and creates a relaxed, shared experience.

The Big Country – “I Do"- Wedding Package

Your package includes exclusive use of the Shearer’s Wool Shed, beautiful gardens and surrounding paddocks, two nights’ accommodation in the Hiwi Farm Homestay, multiple ceremony locations, and dedicated spaces for both the bridal party and the groom’s party to get ready for the big day.

Unlike many wedding venues, you’re not locked into expensive catering packages or preferred suppliers. We believe every couple should have the freedom to create a wedding that reflects their style, their family traditions and their budget.

Food and drinks are not included, giving you complete flexibility to celebrate your way. You might choose to:

*Host a potluck-style wedding

*Organise your own BBQ (BBQ not provided)

*Hire a food truck 

*Ask family and friends to prepare favourite homemade dishes

If you’d like a little extra help, wedding décor is available for you to use, and decoration assistance can be arranged to help the bride and her team prepare the venue.

What’s Included:

Bridal Party Accommodation & Wedding Car

Accommodation for the Bridal Party

Included in your wedding package is our on-site Hiwi Farm Homestay, reserved exclusively for the bride and bridal party for the entire wedding weekend. With four comfortable bedrooms, the homestay provides the perfect place to relax, prepare for the big day, and spend quality time together before and after the celebrations.

It’s the ideal setting for hair and makeup, getting dressed, capturing those special pre-wedding moments, and unwinding after a day filled with unforgettable memories.

Dedicated Space for the Groom

While the bridal party enjoys the homestay, the groom and his groomsmen have their own private space. Two bedrooms and a separate bathroom in our family home are available on the wedding day, giving them a comfortable place to relax and prepare before the ceremony. On Friday evening, the Hunting Hut is also available for the groom’s party to enjoy a final night together before the wedding.

Optional Vintage Wedding Car

Complete your country wedding with our beautifully restored 1971 Rambler Rebel. Available for an additional $100, this classic blue wedding car adds timeless charm to your special day and provides a stunning backdrop for unforgettable wedding photographs that perfectly complement the rustic character of Hiwi Farm Venues.

Venue Times

  • Friday from 12:00 pm: Bride and bridal party arrive to stay in the homestay and begin their set‑up and decorating for the wedding the next day.
  • Wedding can be held in the morning or afternoon
  • Music and celebrations finish at 12:00 am (midnight).
  • Sunday: Clean‑up and departure by 12:00 pm

Venue Spaces

  • Two ceremony options: Garden area or wool shed
  • Reception held in the wool shed
  • If the weather is bad, the ceremony will be held inside the wool shed
