Since 1950, Hiwi Farm has been a cherished family sanctuary, lovingly nurtured by the Sharlands through generations and today it is a private wedding venue. Amidst rolling paddocks and whispering native bush, The Homestead and Shearers Woolshed stand as timeless spaces full of warmth, character, and the quiet magic of life on the land.

From its beginnings as a sheep/beef and deer farm, through its days as a dairy farm, to its current life as a thriving dry stock farm, Hiwi has evolved with the land, yet has always remained a place of care, connection, and love.

The Shearers Woolshed has long been a place for laughter, milestones, and celebration. In October 2025, John and Hesta exchanged their vows here, lovingly restoring the Woolshed to mark their love story. Today, Hiwi Farm invites you to begin your own, to celebrate your wedding surrounded by history, heart, and the enchanting beauty of the countryside.

Filled with natural light, the farmhouse features large windows throughout, particularly in the kitchen and living areas, offering beautiful views over the garden and surrounding countryside. The setting is calm and serene, with birdsong greeting you in the mornings and friendly farm animals like bunnies, sheep, and cows sounds nearby, adding to the authentic country atmosphere.
Outside, the expansive garden is a true highlight, with lovely walkways and colorful flowers to enjoy. There is ample safe parking for extra vehicles, bikes, or even boats, and free Wi-Fi is available. Everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay has been thoughtfully provided.
The location is perfectly placed, with an easy drive to Rotorua and Matamata/Hobbiton, and a blueberry farm just 10 minutes away where you can enjoy delicious real fruit ice cream. For those who love the outdoors, there are many activities in and around the area, including scenic walks, cycling, and exploring the natural attractions Rotorua is famous for.
